Susan Boyd is a military spouse, mother of four neurodivergent children, and a passionate special education advocate. Her journey began as a student in special education herself, receiving IEP services from kindergarten through 12th grade. That lived experience gives her a deep, personal understanding of the challenges students face—and the complex systems families must navigate.
Now, as the co-founder of Voices for Special Education, Susan helps parents make sense of IEPs, evaluations, and school policies, ensuring that their children’s rights and needs are recognized. With firsthand knowledge of ADHD, autism, and dyslexia—both personally and within her family—she offers compassionate, practical support to the families she serves.
Susan is especially committed to supporting military families through school transitions and firmly believes that every child deserves a voice—and every parent deserves an advocate.
Outside of advocacy, Susan has dedicated over 15 years to animal rescue, fostering more than 100 neonatal kittens and volunteering with local shelters and rescue groups. Her work with both children and animals reflects her unwavering commitment to care, advocacy, and community.
